    Big Ol' Dirty Bucket

    8:00pm

Fronted by New Jersey native Sarah “Lil Shrimp” Seminski with support from Boston-bred emcee Lord Micah (a.k.a. “Big Daddy Disco”), the vocal work is at the forefront in the band, creating a very unique hybrid of classic funk/Soul and modern Hip Hop/R&B. Beneath the superb vocal work, the sonic space is held by the tremendous, nine piece ensemble, featuring a full compliment of horns and percussion, that undulates with a pulse and pop that recalls the hard-hitting deep funk grooves of the 60’s and 70’s.

    9:30pm-12:30am

michelleMichelle Willson returns with her All Star swing and blues band.  A gifted swing and jump blues vocalist, Michelle Willson -- a native of the Boston area -- began singing as a teenager, often fronting bands quixotically named after nonexistent members (for example, Mimi Jones and Alex Clayton). As a solo performer, she organized a well-received tribute to her singing idols Dinah Washington and Ruth Brown, then joined the band Evil Gal; again working solo in 1994, Willson issued her debut LP, Evil Gal Blues, followed in 1996 by So Emotional. Wake Up Call marked her first release in the new millennium.

    Dub Apocalypse

    9:30pm-12:30am

Dub Apocalypse Returns for their FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH residency.

Led by drummer Tommy Benedetti (John Browns Body) and Johnny Trama (Ghosts of Jupiter) on guitar, Dub Apocalypse is an all-star combination of Boston’s best musicians. Playing an impressive array of original dub reggae instrumentals, with wild improvisation and Benedetti’s dirty break beats, this band never disappoints. Johnny Trama has been a staple in the areas music scenes for years, and his emotional blues driven guitar licks can send you soaring to the stratosphere. .

Making every night a different and unique sound depending on the cast, Dub Apocalypse is ever evolving, but one thing is always constant, and that is amazing music played by an all-star line up. Dub Apocalypse is certainly turning heads with their unique sound, and may just be the musical adventure you've been searching for.

    Krewe de Groove

    9:30pm-12:30am

After 16 years based out of New Orleans, Brandon Tarricone is back on the East Coast performing with his band Krewe de Groove.

Tarricone’s first major touring project, Brotherhood of Groove (BOG), toured the country extensively from 2001-2008, performing across 29 states while establishing a mainstay in the New Orleans music culture.  BOG released 3 albums nationally, and 1 album internationally over their 8 years of touring, performing over 100 shows a year.  The Brotherhood’s communal musicianship incorporated a number of amazing players into their line up in New Orleans and on tour including horn masters: Michael Ray (trumpet, Phish/Sun Ra/Kool and the Gang), John Ellis (sax, Charlie Hunter Quartet), Henley Douglas, Jr. (sax, Heavy Metal Horns/Boston Horns), Michael Tucker (sax, Pat Metheny, Head Shaft), Dave Grippo (sax, Giant Country Horns, Phish), Eric Traub (sax, Dr. John), John Stewart (sax, The Motet), Sam Kininger (sax, Soulive, Lettuce) are just a few of the chosen ones who rotated within the Brotherhood’s horn section.

Since 2008 Tarricone has been writing and performing with 3 projects in New Orleans.  The Easies, The Goods, and WE B3.  These projects were each original in their own right and explored different types of music from one another, but all in the New Orleans funk vane.  Tarricone’s newest project, Krewe de Groove, is a culmination of styles and compositions from the last 14 years of performing.

As a solo performer, she organized a well-received tribute to her singing idols Dinah Washington and Ruth Brown, then joined the band Evil Gal; again working solo in 1994, Willson issued her debut LP, Evil Gal Blues, followed in 1996 by So Emotional. Enjoy Rule of 3?s take on some of the great harmony songs from the 60’s, 70?s & 80’s!

    Tom Palance & Carl Saunders

    9pm-Midnight

    tom_promo_pic_twotrumpets-241

Trumpeter, Tom Palance returns with his group performing jazz standards and original compositions.

    Carl Saunders

Tom Palance will be joined by LA's own Carl Saunders Saturday, Oct 11

From Los Angeles, Carl is one of the greatest trumpet players around today.

Carl began his career with Stan Kenton’s Orchestra when he was 18 years old. After spending part of 1962-63 traveling with Bobby Sherwood’s group (playing drums), Carl settled back in Las Vegas where during the next 20 years he played with a countless number of show bands, including lead trumpet with Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennet, and Frank Sinatra. Saunders also traveled as a lead player with Paul Anka and Robert Goulet, Harry James, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman and Charlie Barnet. In 1978 he also played drums one night in Las Vegas with Harry James and his band when Sonny Payne missed his plane and couldn’t get to the gig.

In 1984, Carl moved to Los Angeles where he was soon playing lead trumpet with Bill Holman’s Orchestra, a position he still holds. Saunders has also worked with John Williams and the big bands of Bob Florence, Johnny Mandel, Gerald Wilson, and the Phil Norman Tentet. In 1994, he became a member of the Dave Pell Octet (in Don Fagerquist’s old chair.) In addition, he is often heard at the head of his own groups including the Carl Saunders Be Bop Big Band, his sextet and a quartet.

Carl Saunders, who has inspired students and kids all over the world conducting clinics, says that he gets inspiration from them because they share his energetic dedication and passion towards the creation of beautiful music. Asked to define jazz, Carl says, “It’s a combination of intellectual funk and hypnotic swinging”. His five recordings show that not only is he a prolific composer but he is one of the finest jazz trumpeters of the 21st century.

1031-LOSSUGARKINGSLos Sugar Kings is a Boston-based quartet known for their dynamic live performances, rich harmonies, intense musicianship and ability to transcend genres with an authenticity rarely heard. In their world, respect is paid to the forefathers and traditions of Afro-Cuban Son, Salsa and Rumba-Flamenca but Los Sugar Kings (named after a Cuban baseball team) also actively draw on influences from nearly every continent in their unique roots-rock-reggae fusion repertoire. All are highly accomplished on their instruments, however the true magic of Los Sugar Kings is how these four individuals come together to put on a performance worthy of any festival, party, club or concert hall.
